Friday, April 18

 

  • Starting today, local teens ages 14 to 17 can pick up an application to assist Claremont Helen Renwick Library with events related to the Los Angeles County Library’s 2025 Summer Discovery Program at 208 N. Harvard Ave. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and closed Sunday and Monday. Applications are due by Friday, May 30.

 

  • Claremont Senior Computer Club hosts free drop-in technology workshops from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month at Joslyn Center, 660 N. Mountain Ave., Claremont.

 

  • Los Angeles County artists can take part in a free studio art day from 1 to 5 p.m. at Millard Sheets Art Center, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona.

 

  • Adults over age 50 can attend a free picnic from 2 to 4 p.m. hosted by Ontario’s Recreation and Community Services Department at Ontario Town Square, 224 N. Euclid Ave. RSVP by calling (909) 395-2021.

 

  • California Botanic Garden, in partnership with American Museum of Ceramic Art, is offering a two-day clay seed pod workshop. Day One takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the garden, 1500 N. College Ave., Claremon. Day Two of the workshop will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at AMOCA, 399 N. Garey Ave., Pomona, Saturday, April 19.   • The Chino Basin Water Conservation District host a free seed packet giveaway from 6 to 7 p.m. at Montclair Place, 5060 E. Montclair Plaza Ln, Montclair.

Saturday, April 19

  • The City of Claremont’s annual Spring Celebration at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., starts at 8 a.m. with the Kiwanis Club of Claremont’s pancake breakfast, $8 per plate. A free special needs egg hunt takes place at 9 a.m., followed by traditional egg hunts for various age groups at 10:45 a.m. Other activities include a petting zoo, face painting, a magic show, and photos with Mr. and Mrs. Bunny.   • Volunteers are needed to help with Special Olympics training at Claremont High School, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m., ahead of the June 6-8 Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games at Cal State Long Beach. Special needs athletes are also welcome.
