Friday, May 23

  • Applications for Claremont’s 2025-26 Teen Committee  are due by 5 p.m. Meetings are held at 3:45 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month from September 2025 through May 2026. For more information, visit claremontca.gov/teen-committee.

 

  • Friday Nights Live continues with 6 to 9 p.m. performances by Craic Haus at Village Plaza, Mechanical Melody at the chamber of commerce, and Generic Clapton at Shelton Park. More info is at business.claremontchamber.org.

  • Volunteers are needed to help with Special Olympics training at Claremont High School, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m., ahead of the June 6-8 Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games at Cal State Long Beach. Special needs athletes are also welcome.   • In observance of the 80th anniversary of the United States dropping atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, La Verne Library, 3640 D. St., hosts a free 2 p.m. workshop on Sadako Sasaki, who was 2 years old when the bomb fell on Hiroshima, leaving her severely irradiated.
