Join us September 27 to celebrate our 116th birthday

by Peter Weinberger | pweinberger@claremont-courier.com

First and foremost, we want to wish our readers a happy September and offer a huge thank you for your continued support. The nonprofit Courier remains a critical source for local fact-based journalism and information. Your generosity helps push us through the challenges we face together during this critical election year.

What’s the key to success? Publishing. With each story, photo, announcement, advertisement, classified, letter, news brief, calendar event and more, the Courier helps keep you connected. And to follow this theme, the Courier is publishing our “From ABCs to Ph.D.s” education special edition on September 27. This is yet another example of how we mirror the Claremont community we all know and love.

After 116 years in business, the Courier staff continues our service to the public. There’s so much that happens between our print editions now. This past week the Courier website registered over 112,000 views from 75,000 users for our daily coverage of the Bridge Fire, and another 24,000 from the newspaper and social media. That’s keeping the community informed.

We also cannot ignore the fact that publishing the Claremont Courier’s award-winning journalism has become increasingly challenging for a variety of reasons, most of which are out of our control. Yet we continue to adapt, as with our recent move to the Garner House, for example.

Because of the Courier, Claremont has more than a century-long record of our actions, and of what has transpired over those years to make Claremont, Claremont.

Come ‘Sip and Socialize’ with us on September 27

Our free and open to the public “Sip and Socialize” open house party at Garner House takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. next Friday, September 27. The exciting festivities are sponsored by Concierge Realty Group, and will include beverages, snacks, a book signing of “Timeless Claremont,” a raffle, and a huge community ribbon cutting with an aerial photo in front of the Garner House of everyone at the party we will publish on the front page of the October 4 edition of the Courier. The more the merrier! Come be a part of history.

Have a story idea, complaint, compliment, or question? The entire Courier staff will be on hand at this event to hear you out. We hope to see you there!

RSVP via email to anna@claremont-courier.com.

Is there anything else we can do for you? Fall is also the time when we humbly ask for donations to help us maintain our award-winning reporting. You can also stop by the party next week and purchase raffle tickets and win some great prizes! It all helps us make ends meet. The Courier has many plans for 2025. Your contribution ensures we will be publishing for years to come.

Thank you. See you all September 27!
