Local Claremont scout makes history
Jasmine “Jazzy” Lyn, a member of Claremont’s Girl Scout Troop 15174 and Boy Scout Troop 408G, recently earned both Eagle Scout rank and a Gold Award, the highest achievements in both the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA.
Jasmine, 16, is the first Claremont Girl Scout to earn both honors, and the first Asian-American female Eagle Scout in Claremont Boy Scouts history.
Her BSA Eagle Scout service project involved the relandscaping of Rancho Cucamonga Fire Station 177 to help reduce its outdoor water consumption. Jasmine’s GSA Gold Award project included two smart phone photography workshops for senior citizens she hosted at the Joslyn Center and Claremont United Church of Christ.
Jasmine is a junior at Claremont High School and is active in its Interact Club. Her Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony will be held at a private location on Sunday, September 10.
