Tonight’s free and open to the public National Night Out event, hosted by the Claremont Police Department, begins at 6 p.m. at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., and includes a 7:30 screening of “DC League of Super-Pets.”

“This year, we are partnering with Shoes that Fit for a shoe drive for local students,” read a CPD press release. “Help stuff a police car for local kids in need! The most urgent need is for new athletic shoes and socks in all sizes. School supplies and backpacks are also welcome.”

The police department, in collaboration with other community groups, will have several exhibits on display, games and prizes for kids.
