National Senior Health & Fitness Day event

AgingNext will host National Senior Health & Fitness Day, the nation’s largest older adult health promotion event, at the California Botanic Garden on Wednesday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by Charles Schwab’s Upland office, the goal of this annual event is to help improve the overall health of older adults and promote the importance of regular physical activity. No matter the age, it can be hard to start and keep up a healthy lifestyle. This event is a great opportunity to try different activities and determine what may be best for you.

“This event is designed to encourage and inspire physical activity, which helps older adults maintain their strength and mobility. Being active also tends to improve mood, which has positive effects on the body,” says Floy Biggs, AgingNext CEO. “We are thrilled to partner with the California Botanic Garden for this event. It’s the perfect spot to spend a day working on your wellness plan.”

A variety of classes will be offered, from yoga, pilates and meditation to bone builders and tai chi, all taught by certified instructors in their field. Inter Valley Health Plan will offer classes, plus docent-led walks through the garden, and community partners will be available to share important information about nutrition, health and fitness. “Wellness is essential to every aspect of our lives and taking care of ourselves will lead to happier, healthy years,” said Biggs.
