No serious injuries in plane crash at Cable Airport

A small plane crashed during takeoff shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cable Airport in Upland, coming to rest upside-down on a street adjacent to the runway. The pilot was unharmed and his elderly female passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“It appeared that the small aircraft was unable to stop within the runway distance,” San Bernardino County Fire Department officials told KTLA. “The plane struck a soil based embankment, which acts as a safety feature at the end of the runway, and overturned. Both occupants were seat belted. No fire or any other injuries were reported.”
