Flights to wine country on the way
Ontario International Airport recently announced Avelo Airlines, a low-cost Houston, Texas airline, would begin offering service to Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport on Thursdays and Sundays beginning October 10.


Increased passenger, freight volumes
Ontario International Airport saw an increase in passenger volume in July with 666,322 customers, a 14.4% increase over July 2023, according to a press release. The total included 629,000 domestic passengers, up 16.7% over July 2023, and broke the record for a single month since the airport’s transition to local ownership in 2016. Its all-time record of 693,000 customers was set in August 2007.

The airport is projected to exceed 7 million passengers this year.

From January through July, the airport welcomed nearly 4 million passengers, including 3.7 million domestic fliers and 270,000 international customers, increases of 10.9% and 23%, respectively, over the same period last year, for an overall jump of 11.6%. Carriers with the greatest passenger shares in July were Southwest at 33.7%, Frontier, 17.6%, American, 14.7%, Delta, 9.6%, and United, 7.7%.
