The Rotary Club of Claremont unveiled its “peace pole” at Shelton Park on Wednesday. Mayor Corey Calaycay, Sylvia Whitlock — the first woman to serve as president of a Rotary Club — and the Claremont High School Choir were among those on hand at the dedication. The event culminated with a dove and butterfly release, as the club “spread the message of our community and Rotary’s commitment to peace.”
