Dedication ceremonies marking the completion of the Pomona and La Verne light rail stations along the soon-to-be opened Foothill Gold Line/Metro A Line extension project take place this weekend. The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority invites the public to a free 1:30 p.m. ceremony for the Pomona north station at 205 Santa Fe St. Friday, June 20, followed by a 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21 event for the La Verne/Fairplex station at 2327 Arrow Hwy.

The dedications come ahead of the A Line extension’s official opening for passenger service, which Metro has yet to announce as it conducts final tests.

The project will connect Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne and Pomona via the existing Metro A Line light rail. It was funded using Los Angeles County’s Measure M funds, residual funds from Measure R not used for the Pasadena to Azusa segment, and state greenhouse gas reduction funds.

“Through global pandemics, extreme heat, and torrential rains, this project was delivered on time and on budget, proving what’s possible when we persevere for a shared dream of connection,” said Ed Reece, Claremont City Council member and Construction Authority chair.
