On April 9, 26-year United States Representative Grace Napolitano of California’s 31st Congressional District announced her donation of congressional archives to the University of La Verne, which will be on display for free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at Wilson Library, 2040 Third St., through Thursday, May 1. A return engagement is set from Sunday, June 1 to Tuesday, July 15.
The archives include photographs, U.S. military challenge coins, speeches, newsletters, legislation Napolitano’s either sponsored or co-sponsored, constituent correspondence, “a wrestling belt symbolizing her staunch advocacy for mental health awareness,” and more.
“This is just really an incredible moment for the institution in so many ways, and the culmination of a lot of hard work,” Risa Dickson, ULV president, wrote in a statement. “She has been a strong advocate for immigration reform, voting rights, a powerful voice for veterans, small businesses, and for women. These archives will serve to educate and inspire our students, researchers, and future public servants.”
