Scripps Presents hosts a mix of virtual and in-person discussions
Over the coming days and weeks, Scripps Presents of Scripps College will be hosting a mix of virtual and in-person discussions in accordance with their fall 2021 public programming series, “which will center the diverse experiences of the Scripps College and surrounding Los Angeles-area communities,” their web announcement read.
Kicking off their series tomorrow, Tuesday, are former journalist of NPR’s Code Switch, Kat Chow, and KPCC/LAist reporter Josie Huang. The duo will be hosting a virtual discussion about “the reverberations of a loss” and coping with a loss. Their event will be virtual and is set to begin at 6 p.m. For tickets to this event, visit https://www.scrippscollege.edu/news/campus-news/scripps-presents-announces-fall-2021-season.
Next Thursday, October 7, two discussions will be held. The first, beginning at 4:30 p.m. will be a virtual PEN Out Loud program with Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka. Soyinka, live from New York Public Library, will join the PEN team to celebrate and discuss his novel, Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth, his latest novel in over 50 years according to PEN. Soyinka will also be joined in discussion by Farah Jasmine Griffin, the William B. Ransford Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
