Surprise summer rainstorm

Early morning walkers on Thompson Creek Trail early Monday morning got a bit of a surprise as a rare summer rain swept through the area around 7 a.m. That squall followed a much larger storm during the night that produced enough rain to fill birdbaths and leave puddles across the city. The National Weather Service said the monsoonal moisture began moving through the area on Sunday, however there is no rain forecast for the rest of the week. COURIER photo/Steven Felschundneff
