Man arrested after crashing into cop car, front yard during pursuit
Police arrested a Baldwin Park man after he collided into a police car and crashed into the front yard of a house during a short pursuit.
Around 1:28 p.m. on Saturday, police cameras picked up on a stolen gray Ford Explorer in the area of Base Line Road and Padua Avenue, and later found the car unoccupied on the 900 block of Alamosa Drive, according to a release from the Claremont Police Department.
Police conducted surveillance on the car until the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Kameron Dennis, returned to the car, saw the officers and fled the scene.
Mr. Dennis led police on a short pursuit through the neighborhood, at one point crashing into a CPD detective unit. The police car suffered “superficial damage” and was not totaled, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department.
Mr. Dennis led officers southbound on Grand Avenue before crashing into the front yard of a home on Yuba Lane. The damage to the property is currently unknown, according to Lt. Ciszek.
Mr. Dennis was arrested at the scene without incident and transported to CPD jail. His next court date will be on August 29, according to LA County arrest records.
Nobody was injured in the incident, police said.
