Police arrested a Claremont resident Saturday night on suspicion of having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Jon Crittenden, 53, was arrested following an anonymous tip to the Claremont Police Department regarding the sexual relationship, Lt. Jason Walters said in a release. The tip was received on Thursday, November 23.

A further investigation revealed Mr. Crittenden had sexual encounters with the girl and agreed to meet her at an undetermined location in Claremont for “his continued sexual pleasures,” Lt. Walters said.

Mr. Crittenden arrived to the location on Saturday around 10 p.m. to meet up with the girl, but was met by Claremont police officers instead, who then took him into custody, Lt. Walters said.

Mr. Crittenden was arrested for contacting a minor for sex, having sex with a minor and oral copulation with a minor. He was booked at the Claremont Police Department jail, where he was released after posting $50,000 bail.

His arraignment date is scheduled for January 29, 2018 at Pomona Superior Court.

No further information was released pending additional investigation, Lt. Walters said.
