Claremont police arrest school owner for child endangerment
Claremont police arrested Yanhua Zhang, 46, of Claremont for child endangerment.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Claremont officers responded to MagiKid Robotics, located at 578 E. Base Line Rd., regarding a possible child abuse investigation.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the person who reported the incident, who said she had arrived at the business to pick up a seven-year-old child and saw the child was in the front lobby unattended. All the doors and windows to the business were locked for approximately 30 minutes, until the business owner eventually returned.
The business owner told the reporting party the seven-year-old was “fussy” and did not want to accompany her while she “ran some errands.”
The child was unharmed and did not need medical assistance. The child’s parents were advised of the incident and the business owner was placed under arrest for child endangerment and transported to the Claremont Police Department jail for booking. She was later released after posting bond.
Ms. Zhang’s arraignment date is scheduled for September 12 at the Pomona Superior Court.
Anyone with information should contact the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
