Strong show of support for Silver Platters
There was no shortage of enthusiasm at Gus’s BBQ Monday night, after Director of Human Services Ann Turner thanked city employees for their work to help launch the city’s new Silver Platters initiative. Silver Platters will raise money to fund a new kitchen that prepares meals for seniors at Joslyn and Blaisdell Centers. Each weekday, there are over 100 well-balanced meals prepared for seniors, in a small kitchen designed more as a snack-shack. There’s no room for basic necessities like food storage and dish washing for example. With Silver Platters, people can now make donations when shopping or eating at participating businesses in Claremont. It also possible to send donations directly to the Claremont Senior Program, 660 N. Mountain Ave., Claremont, 91711. For more information go the Claremont city website at Claremontca.org/seniors and look for Silver Platters.
