Employees at the Claremont Double Tree Hotel are on heightened alert after an armed man attempted to rob the hotel on Thursday morning.

According to police, the masked man entered the hotel lobby around 3:24 a.m. carrying a black semi-automatic handgun, which he pointed at the hotel security guard. The armed suspect fled through the north lobby door after the security guard yelled at him. The man was not located. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighting 200 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and a blue face mask and gloves at the time of the incident. Information on this crime should be reported to the Claremont Police Department at 399-5411.
