A work crew digs a ditch for a new pipe on Monday at Monte Vista Avenue and Claremont Boulevard in Claremont. Commuters using Monte Vista Avenue between Foothill Boulevard and Base Line Road might have found their drive a bit cumbersome over the past week with the closure of both northbound lanes and traffic diverted onto the southbound side. Closures will continue for the next few weeks as Southern California Gas Company works to replace a gas main, according to Enrique Villalobos, assistant engineer for the city of Claremont.
