City officials were notified Wednesday that Trumark Homes has sold the former La Puerta Intermediate School property to Taylor Morrison Homes for an unspecified amount.

Claremont Unified School District sold the property to Trumark in February for $12.25 million.

The Claremont City Council approved the La Puerta Site Specific Plan on November 12, 2024, clearing the way for Trumark to build 55 single-family detached homes on the 9.58-acre site at 2475 N. Forbes Avenue. Taylor Morrison intends to use the same plans for its development, according to city officials.

“Taylor Morrison Homes independently pursued the acquisition, and the sale was not initiated by Trumark,” according to a post from the city at claremontca.gov/lapuerta.

If it does go forward with Trumark’s plans, Taylor Morrison’s first hurdle will come at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, when Claremont’s Architectural and Preservation Commission reviews the final architectural design for the project.
