‘America the Beautiful’ coming to Cal Poly Pomona
Cal Poly Pomona Music Department hosts pianist Min Kwon at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at CPP Music Recital Hall, 3801 W. Temple Ave., Pomona.
Kwon will perform selections from “America the Beautiful,” her commissioned program which debuted virtually in 2021, including “America/Desh” by Reena Esmail; “A Celebration of Our Beautiful Nation,” Samuel Adler; “Crown Thy Good,” Vijay Iyer; “Playing with Fire,” Justin Dello Joio; “america, NEVER beautiful,” Daniel Bernard Roumain, and others.
Tickets are $20, $10 for seniors and students, at cpp.edu/class/music, click “events and tickets” and select the April 17 concert option.
More than 70 composers contributed to the project, including Grammy and Emmy winners, MacArthur grant recipients, and Pulitzer, Grawemeyer, Guggenheim, Rome, Doris Duke prize winners.
