CHS speech and debaters heading to Iowa for nationals
A group of 19 Claremont High School students are heading to Des Moines, Iowa, June 15-20 for the National Speech and Debate Association’s national championship tournament.
The speech and debate team students include senior Aubrey Walburg, who will compete in dramatic interpretation; senior Lincoln Roston and junior Nina Wu, in the Lincoln-Douglas debate; senior Isabelle Shie and sophomore Iris Chiou, in informative speaking; senior Theo Krebs and sophomore Henry Phillips, in world schools debate; senior Serenity Hamilton and sophomore Annabelle Brusky in humorous interpretation; juniors Fiona Wu and Kate Song in the public forum debate; juniors Max Abbott and Caroline Warren, big questions debate; juniors Rukmini Sridharan and Kaitlyn Zhang, in spoken word poetry; senior Lucas Grannis in original oratory; junior Pablo Guevara, congressional senate; junior Emma DeWees in dramatic interpretation; and sophomore Reyhan Garcia in congressional house.
