It took the Claremont City Council just over 30 minutes to conclude its business last Tuesday, which ended with the swift passage of the consent calendar containing just seven items. No public hearings, ordinances, or administrative items came before the council.
With a unanimous 5-0 votes, the council:
Extended its agreement with San Bernardino County for landfill airspace at the Mid-Valley Landfill in Rialto through the end of 2030. Landfill airspace refers to the volume of space on a landfill permitted for municipal solid waste disposal. During that time, the city will pay $46.07 per ton of waste through 2030. It appropriated $55,100 from its sanitation fund to cover the anticipated costs.
Executed a “fulfillment agreement” with Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for Claremont to receive $331,086 in Proposition C funds, which will be used for Arrow Highway transit improvements, First Street rehabilitation, and Indian Hill Boulevard at I-10 improvement, all of which are capital improvement projects. “The Project includes the construction of a bus pad with adequate space to accommodate accessibility improvements and amenities on Arrow Highway, east of Indian Hill Boulevard, and a 2-inch asphalt grind and overlay for First Street between College Avenue and Claremont Boulevard, and for Indian Hill Boulevard under the I-10 Freeway,” according to a staff report.
Allocated $10,000 from Proposition A and $99,450 from Proposition C budgets to fully fund a $109,450 agreement with Atlas Civil Design for the “design and preparation of plans and specifications for improvements to the west side of Claremont Boulevard between Ninth Street and Foothill Boulevard,” according to a staff report.
Entered a memorandum of understanding with San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments that will see Claremont included in the agency’s San Gabriel Valley Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement program.
Inked a $174,830 agreement with CXT Incorporated to install “two prefabricated vault restroom facilities” at Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. The Friends of the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park will contribute $148,236 to the bill.
Adopted warrant registers, audited list of claims and demands, dated for September 25 and October 9.
Recognized the Claremont College’s women’s club volleyball team, which in April claimed the Division 2AA National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Collegiate Club Volleyball Championship.
The next City Council meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 at 225 W. Second St.
