City of Trees giving away trees
Claremont’s reforestation season, with the city offering free trees to qualified homeowners from November through April 2025, has begun, with more than 70 trees already planted.
Tree requests will be taken through March 2025. A list of available trees is at claremontca.gov, hover over “City Services” and click “Reforestation Plan” from the drop-down menu. Species information is at selectree.calpoly.edu.
Residents requesting a new city tree are reminded of the following:
- All sites must be evaluated and approved by an arborist prior to planting.
- Properties approved for a new tree will have a yard sign installed that will include a scannable QR code with information about urban forests. Signs are removed once the new tree is planted.
- Newly planted trees will be watered by the city for the first 90 days. After, a water bag will be installed and property owners will be responsible for watering.
To request a new city tree or ask questions, email trees@claremontca.gov or call (909) 399-5431.
