City seeks artists for new utility box project
The City of Claremont is currently accepting applications from artists and teams interested in painting utility boxes around town. Design submissions and questions must be emailed to bhandel@ci.claremont.ca.us by 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 18.
“Artwork must not contain religious references or symbols, political campaigns, copyrighted or trademarked material, or corporate or organizational branding,” the application states. “Artwork must be the original design of the entrant, never-before created, and suitable for viewing by all ages. Templates may be used only if created specifically for this project by the selected artist(s).” Artists are allowed to include their signature on the box, but it must be no larger than 3 by 5 inches.
