CLASP to celebrate 20 years

In observance of 20 years of service and ongoing volunteer service, Claremont After-School Programs invites the community to a 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 9 anniversary and volunteer recognition ceremony at Claremont Graduate University’s President’s House, 709 Harvard Ave.

Tickets are $75 at clasp4kids.org/celebrate2025. RSVP by Saturday, November 1.

The event include a ceremony honoring Cass Armstrong, Chris Caenepeel, Ellen Hamilton, Bev Jack, Lissa Petersen, Judi Pocock, and Barbara Rugeley, each of whom CLASP tutors for 15 years or more. Michael Ryan and Friends will provide live music.

“CLASP tutors work to meet the changing needs of students by providing individualized academic assistance and a supportive environment. Through personalized tutoring sessions, CLASP students develop a greater interest in school,” according to a news release. “Volunteer tutors, who come from the surrounding communities, colleges and high schools, are the backbone of the CLASP program. They serve as mentors and provide a positive relationship that is as important as the academic tutoring.”
