County rent debt relief applications due Friday
The deadline for Los Angeles County landlords and property owners to apply for the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs’ Emergency Rent Relief grant program is 4:59 p.m. Friday, January 23 at lacountyrentrelief.com.
Eligible applicants include landlords, individuals or entities, “with unpaid rent or other eligible expenses for properties in Los Angeles County,” and homeowners displaced by the January 2025 Eaton and Palisades wildfires who “have unpaid rent in their current rental homes and/or unpaid mortgage for the home from which they were displaced, and exhausted FEMA/insurance rental support,” according to program info at lacountyrentrelief.com. Tenants may not directly apply.
Landlords with four or fewer rental units will be prioritized, according to the news release. Up to six months of rent debt may be covered, with the maximum award being $15,000 per rental unit.
