Exhibit explores early work of Benjamin, his students
Claremont Heritage’s exhibition, “Karl Benjamin — His Studentsʼ Work 1953–1960s,” runs through Saturday, January 31 at the Ginger Elliott Center at Garner House, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd.
The show, which sheds light on the late Claremont artist’s formative years, is free and open to public 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, with a closing reception from 6 to 9 p.m. January 31.
The exhibit pairs Benjamin’s art from the 1950s with students from his early public elementary school teaching career in Bloomington and Chino.
“The exhibition places Benjamin’s own early explorations in direct dialogue with the creativity of his students, illuminating the reciprocal exchange that helped inspire both teacher and pupils,” according to a news release at claremontheritage.org.
