Friends of library select 2023 community read

The Friends of the Claremont Library’s On the Same Page Committee recently chose Laurie Frankel’s 2017 novel, “This Is How It Always Is,” as its 2023-24 Claremont community read.

The book revolves around a fictional family with five children, who are each dealing with issues surrounding gender identity.

“It’s an important book for group members, friends and family who enjoy powerful reads, and for anyone who could really use a book like this right now,” On the Same Page’s Lanore Pearlman wrote in an email.

The book, winner of the 2018 Washington State Book Award for fiction, will be available for check out for free at the Helen Renwick Public Library, 207 Harvard Ave., where copies are also available to purchase for $15.

Free community read lawn signs, designed by Joel Cinnamon, are also available to pick up at the library. Signs can also be delivered. Email lanoreipearlman@gmail.com for more info.
