Homeless numbers continue to fall across LA County
Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority released results of the 2025 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count on Monday, which tallied 72,308 unhoused in LA County and 43,699 in the City of Los Angeles.
The figures marked the second year running both the city’s and county’s homeless populations have decreased.
Claremont’s homeless numbers are still being calculated and will go live at lahsa.org in the coming weeks.
The annual homeless count, mandated by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, directly impacts federal funding allocations for homeless services in communities across the nation.
In 2023, LA County’s homeless population was 75,518, the City of Los Angeles’ 46,260. In 2024, those numbers were 75,312 and 45,252, respectively.
In 2024, 31 homeless people — 22 unsheltered, three in cars, three in makeshift shelters, and one in a tent — were counted in Claremont. In 2023, that number was 16 (11 unsheltered, three in cars, one in a makeshift shelter, one in a recreational vehicle).
