Winners of the 36th Making Change contest were announced Monday at the Alexnader Hughes Community Center. Winners in the contest by the City of Claremont and Claremont Unified School District received a $100 prize and a certificate of recognition. Individual winners were Ella Tong in the third to fourth grade category; Emme Caudillo, fifth-sixth grade; Caroline Marciano, seventh-eighth grade; and Chole Leeper, ninth-10th grade. Stephanie Redcher’s second grade class at Chaparral Elementary took first in the kindergarten to second grade category. Adelaida Stark and Annabelle Chen won the seventh to eighth grade category.

The annual contest honors people who’ve made change on a local, national or international level.
