Mei Duo at Balch Auditorium February 11
The Mei Duo, made of Scripps College faculty Rachel Huang, violin, and Hao Huang, piano, will perform a free and open to the public concert at Scripps College’s Balch Auditorium, 1030 Columbia Ave., Claremont, at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11.
The program will include works by Claude Debussy, Germaine Tailleferre, Joaquin Nin, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albeniz, and others. Guest poet Javier Ramirez will also recite passages by Stéphane Mallarmé, Federico García Lorca and more. Call (909) 607-3266 for information.
Violinist Rachel Huang currently serves as adjunct professor of music at Scripps College and has performed as a concerto soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra, The Concord Orchestra and extensively in Austria and China. Pianist Hao Huang, the Frankel Endowed Chair in Music and faculty co-director of the Melon Interdisciplinary Humanities Initiative at Scripps College, has appeared as a soloist at the George Enescu Festival. The Mei Duo have performed at Merkin Hall in Abraham Goodman House, Coolidge Auditorium in the Library of Congress and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
