Nadia Shpachenko in concert October 23 at CPP
Composer and clarinetist Jonathan Russell and Grammy Award-winning pianist and Cal Poly Pomona professor Nadia Shpachenko perform “Unbreakable Spirit: Music of Resilience,” an 8 p.m. concert at Cal Poly Pomona Recital Hall, 3801 W. Temple Ave., Pomona, on Wednesday, October 23. The program includes Russell’s “Still Here” for clarinet and piano, Olivier Messiaen’s “Abyss of the Birds,” previews of new compositions by Ludmila Yurina and Ethan Gans-Morse, and a performance of works from Frédéric Chopin and Ukrainian composers by Shpachenko.
General admission is $20, while students and seniors over 55 are just $10 at cpp.edu/class/music, click “events and tickets” and navigate to the October 23 concert.
Preceding the concert is a free and open to the public 2 p.m. masterclass with Shpachenko and Russell on Tuesday, October 22 at the recital hall.
