Noted sociologist to speak on AI at HMC

Sociologist Ruha Benjamin, the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University, delivers a free and open to the public lecture, “From Artificial Intelligence to Collective Wisdom,” at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 19, at Harvey Mudd College’s Shanahan Center Auditorium, 320 E. Foothill Blvd., Claremont.

The talk, part of HMC’s Nelson Speaker series “Being Human in the Age of AI,” will explore automated decision systems in healthcare, policing, education and more, and that technologies’ potential to deepen discrimination. A preprogram reception begins at 5:15 p.m.
