Scripps lecture highlights recently discovered works
Following several decades of searching, works by acclaimed Mexican modernist Alfredo Ramos Martínez were recently discovered in his estate.
Those works are the subject of a free and public 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14 lecture on “Pintor de Poemas: Unseen Works by Alfredo Ramos Martínez,” the new exhibit at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery, 251 E. 11th St., Claremont, hosted by Scripps Fine Arts Foundation. The talk will be led by Rosalia Romero, assistant professor of art history at Pomona College, and will include a viewing of Ramos Martínez’s final work, the mural “Vendedoras de Flores” (The Flower Vendors) in the Margaret Fowler Memorial Garden.
The show is on view through December 14 from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free.
