In an open letter at scrippscollege.edu/news, Scripps College Board of Trustees Chair Laura Hockett announced a five-year extension to current President Amy Marcus-Newhall’s contract through June 2028. The decision comes after a unanimous vote during a September board of trustees meeting.

After previously serving as the college’s interim president for the 2015-2016 and 2021–2022 academic years, Marcus-Newhall was officially installed as the college’s 11th president in April 2023. She has also held the office of vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty of Scripps College for 12 years.
