Shoes That Fit sounds call for donations

Shoes That Fit’s 19th annual back-to-school backpack campaign launches July 1.

The campaign, which has helped more than 6,000 schoolchildren since 2005, asks donors to fill designated backpacks with a new pair of sneakers and socks, and optional school supplies. Pick up a backpack from participating Claremont locations through Tuesday, July 23: Aromatique Skin and Body Care, 319-A W. First St.; Claremont Forum Bookshop, 586 W. First St.; Lizzie’s Goldmine Ltd., 262 W. Second St.; Mpower Yoga, 201 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Suite 102; Some Crust Bakery, 119 Yale Ave.; and The Treatment Skin Boutique, 350 W. Fourth St. Additional locations include the Kiwanis Club of Claremont booth at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., during the July 8 and July 15 concerts in the park events; and the first floor of the San Bernardino County Tax Collector building at 268 W. Hospitality Ln., San Bernardino.

Filled backpacks must be returned no later than Wednesday, July 24 to one of the aforementioned locations, or to Shoes That Fit, 1420 N. Claremont Blvd., Suite 204A, Claremont, from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

American Legion Post 113 helped to sponsor this year’s drive.
