Veterans’ resource office opens in La Verne
The Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has opened a new field office in La Verne at the city’s community center, 3680 D St. The office is staffed Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by a state accredited veterans service officer who can process disability claims and other benefits for veterans and their families.
The expansion is part of an effort to meet veterans where they are and follows a February 6 motion by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to allocate $1.9 million to MVA for the creation of a new homeless services division. Veterans who visit MVA field offices such as La Verne’s and identify as homeless will be connected with temporary and eventual permanent housing.
