Work not expected to affect Base Line traffic
Last week, HP Communications began work to install a conduit for a future fiber optic high-speed communications line in the City of Claremont. Work will take place Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Base Line Road from the western city limit to the Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County line. Friday may be authorized.
“The conduit will be placed by boring method which will not require a continuous open trench and will be less of an impact to traffic on Base Line Road during this time,” the city wrote in a post at claremontca.gov. “Base Line Road will remain open to vehicular traffic with single land and shoulder closures approved. Some delays can be expected.”
The project is expected to take about four months to complete. It’s a private project with no dedicated city funding, according to Claremont Public Information Officer Bevin Handel.
