Obituary: Christopher John Lindsey

Husband, brother, uncle, business owner, lifelong boat enthusiast

Former Claremont and Pomona resident Christopher John Lindsey has died at the age of 69, in Dana Point, California. He had been in declining health for many years since suffering a traumatic brain injury in an accident.

Chris was born in 1951 and grew up in Claremont, where he completed his K-12 education. He then earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of La Verne. Afterwards he lived in both Pomona and Claremont while working in the automobile and real estate fields.

He then studied speech pathology at California State University, Fullerton, where he met his second wife, Julie Kaump of Westminster, California. Following their marriage, he and Julie lived in Dana Point, where they owned and operated several small businesses. He also worked as a sales representative for several hearing aid companies and as a speech therapist.

Living in Dana Point allowed him to indulge in his lifelong passion of boating, and the couple kept a vessel in the Dana Point Marina. They loved to sail to Catalina and spend the night on their boat.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Kaump Lindsey of Dana Point; sister, Suzy Lindsey Richardson of Tucson, Arizona; and in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He will be cremated, with his ashes to be spread in the ocean between Dana Point and Catalina.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and his business associates.

He was a lifelong pet lover, so in lieu of flowers his family asks that donations be made in his name to Promise 4 Paws animal rescue at https://promise4paws.org/donate/
