Richard Lee “Dick” Snelson died at San Antonio Regional Hospital at the age of 81 on Thursday, June 10.
He was born in San Diego, California on February 16, 1940. He spent his childhood in San Diego and in Claremont—graduating from Claremont High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Morse Snelson, on December 30, 1961.

He retired at age 70. In retirement, he loved playing golf with his friends at Upland Hills Country Club. He was a member of the men’s golf club. He loved going to Lake Havasu, riding on his pontoon boat, and going to Newport Beach, where he enjoyed so many fun vacations with family and friends.
“Dick loved watching his kids and grandkids in all of their activities and sports,” his family shared. “He was so proud of all of them. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. We will all miss him so much.”
He was predeceased by his father, William Snelson, mother, Marion Keys Snelson; and brothers Charles Snelson and Bill Snelson.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda; son Craig Snelson (wife Kelli); grandchildren Lyndsay Carrato (AJ), Ryan Snelson (Rose) and Kate Snelson; son Erick Snelson (Cynthia) and grandson Aidyn Snelson; daughter Kelli Padilla (Jay) and granddaughter Preslie Wyatt; brother Mike Snelson; and his brother and sister-in-law Tom and Teddy Morse.
