Obituary: Darleen Rota
Long-time Claremont resident, volunteer, great-grandmother
Claremont resident Darleen Rota, 90, died peacefully December 10 surrounded by loved ones.
Darleen was born in Oklee, Minnesota on January 22, 1934, to Edwin and Martha Lande. She married Antonio Rota, and the couple moved west to Claremont. That marriage produced one daughter, Roxanne. Later in life she met long-time friend Dick Boseman.
She was very active in the community, including with Active Claremont and with the Girl Scouts as a Girl Scout Leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; brother; ex-husband Tony; and long-time friend Dick Boseman.
Left to mourn her death is her daughter, Roxanne; grandchildren Rose (Matt), Andy (Sierra), and Alex; great-grandchild, Gus; many nieces and nephews; and the many wonderful friends she has met throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 16 at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, 435 N. Berkeley Ave., Claremont, CA 91711, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 21300 Via Verde St., Covina, CA 91724.
