CHS grad, Navy veteran, worked in aerospace industry
Paul Carroll, a member of the Claremont High School class of 1975, died peacefully of natural causes on August 15 in Alexandria, Virginia at age 67.
Paul’s journey began in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he was born to Francis Carroll of Norwood and Virginia Lee Carroll of Somerville. In 1962, the family moved to Claremont, when his father began work at Aerojet General in Azusa.
An accomplished athlete, he was a member of the varsity soccer team at Claremont High and later at the University of Southern California. He earned a Navy ROTC scholarship and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and economics. His service as an officer in the United States Navy took him to naval stations in Athens, Georgia, Charleston, South Carolina, and aboard a munitions supply ship in the Mediterranean, as well as the Naval Air Station China Lake, California.
After his honorable service, he left the Navy as a lieutenant and pursued further education at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. With his MBA, he began a career in aerospace and defense, starting at Sargent Fletcher in California. In 1994 he moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where he worked for Harris Corporation.
“Paul’s memory will forever be cherished for his gentle humor and keen intellect,” his family shared.
He is survived by his siblings, Elaine, Gloria, Nancy, John, and Beverly, along with a loving extended family and dear friends.
“Paul brought moments of joy, laughter, and insights to the lives of all who knew him,” his family said.
