Obituary: Robert Paul Bicker

Beloved patriarch, avid reader, family man

Robert Paul Bicker, born June 5, 1930 to Ruth and Ralph Bicker in Pasadena, died March 3 at age 92.

Robert (Bob) was the second of four boys, Ralph, Raymond and Roy. He went to work with his dad as a plumber for McKean Plumbing as a 17 year-old. At 21 he married his sweetheart, Beverly Wessel, whom he had known as a family friend for her entire life. Together they had three children, Daniel, Cheryl, and Michael.

After 25 years in plumbing, Bob retired and the couple spent five months touring Europe. Upon returning from the extended vacation he started working as a building inspector for the City of Santa Ana.

His passion was reading. He would read weekly business magazines and loved his history books. “His amazing mind could retain almost everything he ever read,” his family shared.

He was a gifted carpenter as he continued to add rooms and a patio to their house. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Claremont.

His greatest joy was always his family. He and Beverly are the proud Grandparents of nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

“Bob was always a wonderful provider for all and the loving patriarch of the Bicker family,” his family added.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph; son, Daniel; and son-in-law, Roy.

A celebration of life was held at the First Baptist Church of Claremont.
