Obituary: Thelma Jean Bogus
42-year Claremont resident, dog lover, loved flowers
Thelma Jean Bogus, 87, of Claremont, died February 3 at Claremont Place.
Born August 13, 1937 in West Pike Run, Pennsylvania, and daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Wright, Jean, as she was known, was a 1955 graduate of Centerville High School. She married Charles R. Bogus on June 3, 1956.
The couple moved across the country in 1983, finding their new home in Claremont. She enjoyed working with her flowers, inside and out, going to movies and attending and supporting the Candlelight Pavilion. She loved visiting with friends and family, staying in touch by phone and then acknowledging them with letters and cards. She was an avid Hallmark movie fan and worked for years at a Hallmark store.
A devoted dog lover, her “kids” were her pride and joy.
She was a member of Claremont United Methodist Church and helped others by volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; sisters, Pearl Comer and Etta Ruth List; and brothers, Harold Wright and Jacob Wright.
Her ashes, along with those of her late husband and dogs (the “kids”), will be spread in Claremont United Methodist Church’s Memorial Garden.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of Upland Animal Shelter at friendsofuplandanimalshelter.org/donate, or by check to 1275 San Bernardino Rd., Upland, CA 91786.
