Successful wholesale rose entrepreneur

Chino resident Verona E. Weeks died August 29 at the age of 102. She was born March 18, 1916, in Bentonville, Arkansas.

For more than 40 years Ms. Weeks was the co-owner of Weeks Wholesale Roses. She utilized her marketing skills to grow the company over the course of 15 years from a small parcel of land in Wasco, California, to more than a thousand acres of thriving roses. Her promotional acumen helped the business evolve from a mom-and-pop operation into a distributor of its own roses throughout the United States.

For those fortunate enough to have known Ms. Weeks, she will always be remembered as an angel who shared her love and personal feeling of concern and compassion with all who knew her, her family shared. “We now know that she is at peace with her husband after 65 years of marriage.”

A funeral service for Ms. Weeks took place earlier this week at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina.
