William “Bill” Helber, 77, died April 13 at an assisted living facility in Las Vegas. Mr. Helber was a 1961 Claremont High School graduate and a United States Navy veteran.

He was three-year varsity letterman in baseball at CHS, a 127-pound starting catcher for the Wolfpack’s only CIF championship season, in 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Helber; and brothers Bob Helber of Layton, Utah, and Jack Helber of Claremont. Mr. Helber was cremated and buried at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
