Obituary: Patricia Ann (Patti) Brant
Beloved mother, grandmother, educator
Patricia Ann (Patti) Brant, beloved mother and friend, died April 30, in New Haven, Connecticut. She was 74.
She was born December 14, 1945, in Long Beach, California, to Opal and Ralph Thayer. Patti lived in Upland and Mt. Baldy most of her life. After graduation from Upland High School and The University of La Verne, she went on to become a respected science and home economics teacher in the Alta Loma School District.
“Patti had a radiant smile that was infectious and touched everyone who crossed her path,” her family shared. “She was known for her genuine kindness, loving personality and warm hospitality. Her giving and compassion for others was apparent in her everyday life. Patti was vibrant.”
She loved to cook, sew, garden, and play tennis and golf. Above all her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She loved being a mother and especially a grandmother. “She loved her grandchildren more than words can explain, and she was adored by them,” her family shared. “Patti will never be forgotten in their eyes. They will always see her as their dear grandma Patti.”
She was predeceased by her grandson Henry Schreder.
She is survived by her large immediate and extended family, including daughters Sydney Lamb (Todd) and of Annapolis, Maryland and Sarah Schreder (Skovran), of Greenwich, Connecticut; stepdaughters Brenda Havro (Gary), of Claremont, and Kathy Pederson (Brad), of Park City, Utah; sister Jean Gillingwators (Joel), of Upland; grandchildren Connor Havro, Brant Havro, Landen Pederson, Claire Schreder, Hayden Lamb, Hudson Lamb and Charlotte Schreder; nephews Drew and Paul Gillingwators; and Edward (Sam) Brant.
The family will honor Ms. Brant’s exemplary life in a private celebration.
