Diamond scheme turned bad for Claremont woman

A supposed diamond-selling scheme ended in disappointment for a 41-year-old Claremont woman Friday afternoon. The woman was approached about the scheme by 2 men, who appeared to be in their 30s or 40s and were speaking Spanish, on the corner of Foothill and Indian Hill Boulevards. They told her that she would not be able to leave unless she withdrew money from the bank to give to them. Fearful for her life, the woman complied and got into their vehicle, described as “light blue” and “an old model,” and drove to the Wells Fargo Bank at 203 Yale Ave. She withdrew $15,000 and returned to the vehicle. The men drove her back and drove off. The woman did not receive her diamonds.
