Police Blotter: April 4, 2025

Tuesday, March 25

Claremont Police Department officers conducting a 2:51 a.m. area check near Super King Market, 436 Auto Center Dr., ran a records check on a 60-year-old homeless man that revealed a felony warrant out of Los Angeles County, and on a 61-year-old homeless woman, which showed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant. Both were arrested and transported to the Claremont jail and booked. The woman was released with a citation. The man was transported to Inmate Reception Center in LA, transferred to Men’s Central Jail on March 31, and is due at Central Arraignment Court in LA on April 14.

Police responded to the 100 block of E. Arrow Highway at 1:30 p.m. on reports of a disturbance. Arriving officers spoke with the victim, then arrested a 40-year-old Upland woman for felony domestic violence. She was transported to CPD, booked, and later taken to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. She was released March 27 and is due at Pomona Superior Court on May 5.

Wednesday, March 26

Officers responded to the 2300 block of Ohio Drive at 1:48 a.m. on reports of an assault. They spoke with the victim, who said a 26-year-old Upland man hit them and caused $1,000 worth of damage inside thier residence. Police arrested the man for domestic violence and vandalism, both felonies, and transported him to CPD, where he was booked and held for court. He was released March 28 after an appearance in Pomona Superior Court.

Police were called to the 300 block of Bennett Place at 1:48 p.m. on reports of a 19-year-old Claremont woman in violation of an emergency protection order. Arriving officers arrested the woman for the misdemeanor violation. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and later taken to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. She was released March 28 and is due to appear at Pomona Superior Court on May 15.

 

Thursday, March 27

Claremont police responded to Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 1:02 a.m. on reports of a man refusing to leave the facility. Arriving officers spoke with Upland resident Steven Brannon, 44. After he drove away, police said he narrowly missed colliding with other drivers on the road, so they pulled him over. Brannon allegedly refused field sobriety tests, and a records check showed a misdemeanor warrant. After he provided a chemical sample, he was arrested for DUI, resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer, and the warrant, all misdemeanors. Brannon was transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and later released with a citation to appear in court.

A CPD officer reported seeing a car with vehicle code violations at 5:17 p.m. and stopped it at Base Line Road and Grand Avenue. Police spoke with the driver, a 20-year-old Pomona man, and an unidentified juvenile. During the stop, police allegedly saw marijuana in plain view, and a search of the car turned up more marijuana, vape pens, and a ghost gun (a firearm with no serial number). The minor was released to parents, and the adult driver was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm in public, owning a firearm without a serial number, possession of nitrous oxide, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, all misdemeanors, as well as selling marijuana to a minor and child abuse, both felonies. The man was transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. He was released after an April 1 Pomona Superior Court appearance and is due back in court on May 9.

Friday, March 28

Police were called to the 1300 block of Towne Avenue at 9:05 a.m. on a report of a suspicious transient. Arriving officers said they saw a man destroying a water heater, later valued at $2,000, and when he refused to stop after multiple requests, police arrested him for misdemeanor resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer, and felony vandalism. The 41-year-old homeless man was transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.

Sunday, March 30

At 12:45 a.m., officers pulled over Gerard Baptiste, 46, of Rancho Cucamonga, near Towne Avenue and Scripps Drive for a moving violation. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for DUI and driving on a suspended license, both misdemeanors. Baptiste was transported to CPD, booked, detoxified, and later released with a citation.
